Plankton goes into the Krusty Krab one day and slips on a wet floor. He pretends to be Krabs' lawyer (while taking Krabs' lawyer's briefcase). SpongeBob is not a good lawyer, so he finds his only option is to open the incapacitated lawyer's briefcase. The briefcase supposedly contains something that will win the case. When he opens it, SpongeBob proves Plankton guilty by showing him what was inside the briefcase: a Krabby Patty. Plankton can't control himself, and tries to steal the Krabby Patty, thus acquitting Krabs of all charges.
